In what can be termed as good news for smartphone manufacturers around the world and users alike, chipsets maker Qualcomm has announced its processors meant for the mid segment and budget phones.

These are Qualcomm Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 are capable of delivering much improved performances over the previous generation of processors. The company had already introduced these 3 at the Mobile World Congress, MWC 2018 in Shanghai. The objective is to enhance battery life, improve the graphics rendering and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

OEM smartphone makers would be using the 600 series CPUs in 1350 of their models and another 2300 models will be fitting the other two 400 series processors.

Coming to the performance improvements, the Snapdragon 632 processors are expected to deliver 40% improvement in the performance, particularly in the graphics and display sections. The main CPU will be supported by the corresponding GPUs, like the Adreno 506.

The smartphone makers can assure the buyers of their phones fitted with the Snapdragon 632 processor that they can get better gaming experience, 4K video capture and faster LTE speeds. On the optics section, Qualcomm says, the new CPUs can support dual camera setups that have 2x13MP sensors or if it is only one camera then up to 24MP sensors can be supported. The LTE modem will be X9.

X6 will be the LTE modem used in the 439 and 429 processors and they claim to be better by 25% in managing the power efficiency of the phone. The display and camera efficiencies will also show considerable improvements over the current iterations. The Snapdragon 439 CPU is an octa-core processor and has for support the Adreno 505 GPU, while the 429 will have the Adreno 504 GPU.

When it comes to the cameras, with the Snapdragon 439, 21MP single and 8MP+8MP dual cameras and with the Snapdragon 429, 16MP single and 8MP+8MP dual camera setups are supported. On the display side, the 439 can function well with full HD+ displays while the 429 accepts HD+ displays.

Expect your new smartphones built this year to have longer battery life, better graphic displays and improved AI capabilities. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 639, 439 and 429 processors will ensure that. And these are meant to be sold at reasonable prices.
