Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi has made headlines in regional newspapers by openly criticising the media during a symposium on Saturday. He reportedly said that the Kerala media is unrealistic and annoying.

The symposium was, ironically, organized to commemorate late journalist and political activist Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pillai. Suresh Gopi however went on to say that good, genuine journalism ended with the likes of Ramakrishna Pillai and that now-a-days journalists refuse to move out of their comfort zone.

The actor made these controversial statements about the state’s media, unwittingly, as he might just need the same ‘annoying’ media to help him soon enough. According to reports in Kerala media, Suresh Gopi is rumoured to be joining the Rajya Sabha as a member very soon.

Rumour mills are abuzz with the possibility that the actor may become an MP soon, however these reports remain unconfirmed. Kaumudi Plus, a Kerala based news website has carried reports of the actor being very friendly with the state’s governor, P Sadasivam.

Suresh Gopi has been very open about his support towards PM Modi and reports suggest that he is getting more support from the centre than the state party.
