Right from the day that an announcement regarding the Akhil Akkineni – Vikram Kumar project was made, there was speculation about who would bag the role of the female lead.

The project has already gone on the floors with the inaugural ceremony taking place a few months ago.

There seems to be an interesting development lately with sources in the Telugu film industry pointing their fingers towards young Kalyani.

Daughter of acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan and actor Lissy, Kalyani made her debut in the film industry as an assistant director. She had worked in the movie Iru Mugan, which had Vikram and Nayanthara as the lead pair. The science fiction action flick was directed by Anand Shankar.

With Kalyani showing interest in direction, the industry was abuzz that she would go on to direct a movie soon.

However, the youngster seems to prefer the greasepaint rather than the director’s baton. Impressed with the storyline and script by Vikram Kumar, Kalyani is seriously contemplating on accepting the offer, we hear.

Further, with the star kid Akhil Akkineni playing the lead role, Kalyani is confident that it would be a perfect launch pad for her, if she wants to consider acting as her career.

Reports suggest that Kalyani is discussing the possibility of her acting debut with experienced industry people and friends, before signing on the dotted lines.

To be titled yet, the film that is directed by Vikram Kumar of Yaavarum Nalam and Manam fame, is expected to hit the silver screens later this year.

With Akhil desperately in need of a hit, Vikram Kumar is leaving no stone unturned to get the best output. The film is being bankrolled by Nagarjuna under his banner Annapurna Studios.
