A poster of actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s upcoming film Ayyappan is out and it is interesting that it comes out at a time like this when the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa Temple is a lot in the news. The film will be directed by actor-writer Shankar Ramakrishnan and produced by August Cinemas. Prithviraj has worked with August Cinemas for several projects in the past beginning with Urumi. It may be noted here that Prithviraj founded the production house along with Santosh Sivan, Shaji Nadesan and Arya in 2010 and moved out later to form his own production company.

On the release of the first look poster of Ayappan, Prithviraj has written on his Facebook page, “It’s been years..since Shankar first told me about this. And I’ve always dreamt of this taking off one day! Finally..#Ayyappan Swamiye Sharanamayyappa (in Malayalam)!”

Prithviraj currently has a slew of films in his kitty including Nine which is in the post-production stage and Aadujeevitham, based on the novel of the same title written by Benyamin, about the real life story of a struggling Malayali in a Gulf country. Nine is being produced by Prithviraj’s home banner Prithviraj Cinemas in association with SPE Films.

His maiden directorial Lucifer is also progressing at a brisk pace with the release scheduled in April next year. The film has Mohanlal playing the lead role with Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Vivek Oberoi, and Tovino in pivotal roles. Those in supporting roles include Kalabhavan Shajon, Sai Kumar, director Fazil, Sunil Sughatha, Thara Kalyan, Praveena Thomas and Mala Parvathy.

The shooting of this film began on July 18th and will be shot extensively at different locations in Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai and Kuttikkanam. The technical crew of the film includes Sujith Vaassudev for cinematography and Samjith for editing while Stephen Devassy will be in charge of the music composition. Veteran writer and actor Murali Gopy has penned the script for Lucifer which is touted to be a political thriller.
