Director Jijo Anthony of Darwinte Parinamam is directing the film Pokkiri Simon for which Prayaga Martin has been roped in to play the female lead. Starring opposite Sunny Wayne, Prayaga has a meaty role to play in the film. The actor joined the sets on April 7th and has been actively involved in the shooting since then.

According to Prayaga, she plays a Bharathanatyam exponent in the film and will be seen as Sunny Wayne’s love-interest. With Prayaga being a trained classical dancer, portraying the role would be a cakewalk for her. As for Sunny, he will be playing a hardcore Vijay fan. It is well known that the Ilayathalapathy has a huge fan following in Kerala and the director will be cashing in on it by carving out such a role for his lead actor.

Interestingly, Pokkiri happens to be one of the biggest hits in Vijay’s career. Reports have it that the film will portray the excitement, liveliness, anguish, pain, and laughter, that a hardcore Vijay fan experiences.

Though Prayaga starred in a couple of Malayalam films before debuting as heroine, she made a mark for herself with the Mysskin directorial Pisasu. Her upcoming film Ramaleela, which has Dileep playing the male lead, is reportedly in the post production stages and she also Vishwasapoorvam Mansoor coming up for release.

Speaking about the film, its writer Ampady K, was reported by the Times of India as saying, “Sunny will play the title character, a huge Vijay fan from Kerala. We have been talking to the fans and observing them to make the film. There are a lot of Vijay fans in Kerala. But you will find a ten-year-old to a man in his 70s among the fans. This is a story of those people deeply addicted to this man, of their happiness and problems.”
