In a tragic tale similar to one of Aesop's Fables—crying wolf resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy in Bengaluru, reported Deccan Herald.

David Roshan Ronald along with his five friends—  Suraj, Justil, Mark, Vicky and Naveen had gone for a swim around 3:30 pm on April 27 in Sampigehalli lake after one of them forgot his membership card of a private club.

The DH report said that after they were in water, Ronald pulled a prank on his friends pretending to drown when his friends came to ‘rescue’ him and Ronald had a laugh. Ronald managed to fool his friends for the second time.

The third time, Ronald called for help, his friends thought that he was bluffing again but only to find him disappear from the surface of the water,

Upon realising that Ronald had drowned, his five friends fled the spot without informing anyone about the incident.

Sampigehalli police informed Ronald’s parents about the death on April 28 and the body was sent for post-mortem after emergency services personnel fished out his body from the waterbody.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death but have cleared his friends of any foul play, the DH report said.

Recently, seven students and a teacher from a Belagavi college died after drowning in the sea at Wairi beach in Sindhudurg district, Maharashtra on April 15.

In November 2016, two Kannada actors died in a stunt gone wrong at Tippagondanahalli lake on Magadi Road, 35km west of Bengaluru.

The stunt was part of the shooting for the film “Maasti Gudi” starring Duniya Vijay.
