Actor Vijay Deverakonda’s Arjun Reddy has been getting rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.
The film directed by Sandeep Vanga is been hailed as a gutsy-raw film, with exceptional performances by the lead actor Vijay Deverakonda and his co-actor Rahul Ramakrishna.
The film is about the life journey of Arjun, a medical student, a brilliant surgeon, who turns into an alcoholic post his break-up. Whether Arjun, who also has anger management issues, can recover from this trauma or not makes the rest of the story.
The film with intense drama is being likened to Anurag Kashyap’s Dev D, in terms of the story narration.
The film was embroiled in controversy for its posters which features the actors kissing.
The film was awarded an ‘A’ certificate for its mature content and a dialogue was also muted by the CBFC.
Director Vamshi Paidipally of Oopiri fame appreciated Vijay and called him the new Rockstar.

Offering his congratulations, Vamshi said that the film is written brilliantly and appreciated the director, Sandeep Vanga, “Sandeep Vanga, your writing is a statement by itself,” he tweeted.

Director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) also joined in congratulating both Vijay and Sandeep for the film.
RGV went on to call Vijay Telangana’s superstar and the Amitabh Bachchan of the Telugu film industry.
He took to social media—Facebook and Instagram to declare that Vijay is the first and only actor who, in his eyes, can look like a hero without the help of slow motion or ramping shots.
“His eyes and his voice themselves emanate a built-in background music from within himself,” he wrote.
He went on to equate the actor with Amitabh Bachchan and Al Pacino and said, “I think Vijay Devarakonda is a combination of a young Amitabh Bachchan and a young Al Pacino and I strongly believe that he will be the trendsetter prototype for a new age hero.”
Congratulating Arjun Reddy’s director Sandeep Vanga, RGV said, “Only those films which look like an extension of the director’s personality are the ones which will really leave a mark on the audience's minds, and after a long time I am seeing that happening with Sandeep and his film Arjun Reddy.”

Arjun Reddy was released on Friday. The film stars Vijay Deverakonda, Shalini, Rahul Ramakrishna and others. The film has music by Radhan and it has been produced by Pranay Reddy Vanga.
