Dalits in Pollachi are angry with a book which shows them in a bad light. After members of Makkal Viduthalai Munnani filed a complaint, the police seized copies of the book sold from a temple premises on Tuesday.

The book ‘Sathiyam Tavaratha Harichandran Kathaigal’ was being sold at Muthumalai Andavar Temple in Muthukaundanur.

Thennarasu, youth wing secretary of Makkal Viduthalai Munnani had bought the book on Sunday evening. “I was really vexed after reading few articles. The book discriminated us (Sakkilliyars) in several instances. One statement read that we consume dog meat. It was annoying to read that smell emanates from us even though we bathe using high quality soap,” Thennarasu told TNIE.

The books were seized by Kinathukkadavu police. The book was printed in Sivakasi but there is no authorship. Sources told TNIE that the police will be filing an FIR against the printing press in Sivakasi after consulting with the public prosecutor.
