The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) on Thursday filed a police complaint against D Mart shopping mall for selling a "piece of bed sheet printed with pictures of a Holy Shrine," in Hyderabad.

Claiming that a bed sheet bought from the mall's branch in Uppal was imprinted with the “Madina Munawara”, MBT spokesperson Amjed Ullah Khan filed a complaint with the Chaderghat police.

"It was brought to my notice that the D Mart Shopping Malls which sells groceries and other items, having more than a 100 branches all over India and also in Hyderabad, were selling bed sheets printed with pictures of the holy shrine “Madina Munawara”," Khan said in his complaint to the police.

"The said act is against the principle of Islam, and it is hurting the religion's sentiments. It is being done with intention to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the city and with an Intention to flare communal feelings by creating disrespect to the religion," the complaint added.

The MBT demanded action against the owners of the mall and demanded that the material be seized from all its branches.
