Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with arrogance during the debate on no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha.
Naidu, whose party had moved the no-confidence motion against the NDA government, said that Modi spoke as if Andhra Pradesh was not part of India.
"His arrogance was because he had the numbers," said Naidu while terming the no-confidence motion as a fight between majority and morality.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief was talking to reporters after the defeat of the motion in the Parliament.
The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister's reply disappointed five crore people of the state and the entire country as they had hoped that he will show some repentance over no fulfilling the promises made to the state and correct his mistakes.
Naidu also took strong exception to Modi's remark that he was picking up fight with Telangana and recalled that even before bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh he had been calling for an amicable solution through talks.
Stating that Andhra Pradesh has been cheated again, Naidu appealed to people to stage protest demonstrations on Saturday.
Naidu alleged that Modi also spoke in a manner which was 'irresponsible' and 'cheap'. "By stating that I took u-turn he launched a political counter attack," said Naidu.
On Modi's comments that he had warned him that he was falling in the trap of YSR Congress, the TDP leader said the Prime Minister was doing injustice to the state for political mileage and resorting to blackmail. "It is unbecoming of a person holding the position of the Prime Minister to say such things," he said.
"It was the PM who colluded with a corrupt party (YSR Congress party) for political gains and hurt the interests of the state. The TDP has been fighting in the parliament, while YSRCP President Jaganmohan Reddy is busy attending court today over his corruption cases. Pawan Kalyan is on Twitter since morning. These two parties won’t say a word against the BJP," Naidu said.
"Prime Minister’s institution should secure the interests of the nation without any partiality or discrimination," he added.
Naidu also claimed that for the first time a no-confidence motion moved by a regional party received support from several parties. He will be leaving for New Delhi on Saturday to thank the parties which supported the motion. Naidu said he would also tell the nation as to how the state was betrayed.
Earlier on Friday, TDP lawmaker Kesineni Srinivas called Modi the "best actor in the world" in his response to the latter''s reply in Lok Sabha on no-confidence motion.
"I thank Prime Minister for his as usual great oratory skills. The one-and half hour speech was like a Bollywood blockbuster. Great drama. Great action," he said.
Srinivas had sought 30 minutes to respond but Speaker Sumitra Mahajan permitted just five minutes.
For the first time in 15 years, the lower house of the Parliament held a debate on a no-confidence motion on Friday, moved by the TDP and the Congress, which the NDA government won comfortably.
The motion for want of confidence in the council of ministers was defeated by the government with 325 votes, against 126 votes for the motion from the opposition. No one abstained during the vote, however several members -- including those from the BJD -- were not present in the House during the vote.
As the debate continued late into the night, the voting was held around 11 pm, after almost 12 hours of debate.
