In a complete turnaround, the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court CR Kumaraswamy held that J Jayalalithaa has been acquitted in the disproportionate assets case. On hearing the news, jubilant Amma’s jubilant supporters began to celebrate. Everything had been made ready in advance. Police had a list according to which people were let into the court. A band stood on stand by, dressed in white and crouching beside a pavement outside Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence in Chennai, waiting to burst into a triumphant score just in case she was acquitted.
