Mohanlal’s upcoming film Odiyan is one of the most expensive Malayalam films to be ever made till date. The groundwork to get this film on to the floors next month is currently in progress. Speaking about the project, stunt director Peter Hein said that it is one of the most challenging projects that he is associated with right now.

In an interview, Peter Hein had said, “Pulimurugan was a man vs wild subject where Mohanlal sir played a hunter who used to hunt down tigers. But Odiyan is different. Here, he has to transform into various animals and that is quite a challenging task.”

Interestingly, Mohanlal will be playing Manikyan, a master in Odividya and his character travels right from his 35th year till his 65th. This means Mohanlal will be seen in different looks to look the part. Yet another interesting detail that has emerged about Odiyan is that the star has shed about 15 kilos of weight for the first look.

Directed by VA Shreekumar Menon, Odiyan will have Mohanlal and Manju Warrier playing the lead pair. Also featuring in the film in pivotal roles would be veteran actors Prakash Raj and Sathyaraj.

M Jayachandran will be scoring the music for this flick with Lakshmi Sreekumar and Rafeeq Ahmed penning the lyrics. The film is scripted by the National Award winner Hari Krishnan. Bankrolled by Anthony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas, the film is expected to hit the marquee next year. The team intends to shoot in various locations including Palakkad, Udumalaipet, Banares, Pollachi and Hyderabad.

It may be mentioned here that Mohanlal and Shrikumar Menon are also teaming up for the historical film Randamoozham, based on the MT Vasudevan Nair novel of the same name.
