Malayalam film Uyare has been getting positive reviews and its collections at the Box Office have been going up. It will also be the first ever Malayalam film to release in an East Asian country - yes, Uyare will hit the screens on May 19 in South Korea with Korean subtitles. Indian films have a good market in Korea with Bollywood flicks such as My Name Is Khan and Three Idiots scoring big at the Box Office in that country. Rajinikanth starrer Endhiran had earlier become the first ever Tamil film to release in South Korea in 2010.

It may be noted that recently the film was selected and screened at the International Children’s Film Festival of Kerala.

Uyare is directed by Manu Ashok, an erstwhile associate of the late filmmaker Rajesh Pillai with Sanjay and Bobby penning the script. The film was bankrolled by Shegna, Sherga and Shenuga, the daughters of producer PV Gangadharan, under the banner Grihalakshmi Films. The music for Uyare was composed by Gopi Sunder, and Mahesh Narayan was in-charge of the editing. Director Manu’s wife Shreya was the film’s costume designer.

Parvathy played the lead in Uyare  essaying the role of Pallavi, an air hostess who survives an acid attack. Being a performance-oriented role, Parvathy has done a lot of homework to get into the skin on her character. In fact, Parvathy was selected for the role as the team felt that she had the talent to pull off the role with ease.

It may be noted here that the Kerala government screened Uyare for children at the government homes and it was attended by Minister KK Shailaja, Social Justice Secretary Biju Prabhakar, Parvathy and producers Shenuga, Shegna and Sherga of S Cube Films.
