Days after superstar Rajinikanth dropped hints that he would join politics, BJP national president Amit Shah on Sunday said that his party’s door were open for the actor.

Speaking to India Today, Amit Shah said, “Every good person is welcome to join politics,” but added that only Rajini could decide when to enter politics.

Dismissing reports that Rajini could meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon, the BJP President pointed out that thousands of people come to meet Modi. Shah also denied reports that he had a conversation with the actor over his joining the saffron party.

His comments come days after the superstar told his fans that he is a “Pachchai Thamizhan” and asked them to be prepared for “war”. Earlier last week, Rajini had stated that he would join politics if god wills him to do so.

Rajinikanth’s speech has triggered speculation that he could float his own party or join the BJP, a party that he has endorsed in the past. While Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan had welcomed the star to join the BJP, the party’s state president Tamilisai Sounderajan had on Sunday said that BJP would be strengthened if Rajinikanth joined the party. She had told reporters in Coimbatore that the nationalistic views of Rajinikanth would be in sync with that of the BJP.

However, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President S Thirunavukkarasar said that he believes that Rajinikanth will float his own party. “As a friend who has known him for 35-40 years what I think is he will not join any national or regional party. He will only float a new party,“ reported The Times of India.
