The phone has been launched in China and it remains to be seen when it will be available in India.

Oppo, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has announced that a new phone, the Oppo A79 will be available for sale on December 1. Though on the face of it, the new device resembles Oppo R11s, it is a whole new device as evidenced on Oppo’s official website with some distinct features like the full screen display.

To turn to the specifications of the new smartphone, it will have a 6inch display and with an impressive 2160x1080 pixels screen resolution, it becomes a full HD+ screen and the display type is OLED. As indicated, it has adopted the aspect ratio of 18:9 offering full display on the front of the phone with the thinnest of bezels.

The MediaTek Helio P23 SoC clocking 2.5GHz speed is the main CPU inside the Oppo A79 and the Mali-G71 GPU offers support for graphics. The RAM is also matching at 4GB and 64GB internal memory plus the microSD card provision to take the 3GB storage up to 128GB gives the device enough firepower. The Android Nougat version 7.1.1 has the Color OS version 3.2 UI riding over it.

The rear and the front cameras are both 16MP in size, however, the rear sensor has a lens with an aperture of f/1.8, while for the front one, the aperture size is f/2.0. A 3,000mAh battery sort of rounds up the overall specifications of the new Oppo A79 and should be received well in the market.

The connectivity suite is complete with 4G VoLTE also included in the specifications. Other significant features include the fingerprint scanner on the rear panel and the face recognition technology which the high-end phones seem to be provided with, these days.

With all these, Oppo has listed this in China at a price of CNY2,399, which roughly works out to Rs 23,000. It remains to be seen when the Oppo A79 will make it to India and other international markets. With Oppo’s high visibility campaign in the country, the wait may not be long before Indian buyers get one more choice to buy, in the smartphone market.
