A day after threatening massive cyber attacks against ISIS in a video message, hacker group ‘Anonymous’ has claimed to have already taken down 5,500 pro-ISIS twitter accounts.

The group made the claim in a tweet, "We report that more than 5500 Twitter account of #ISIS are now #down! #OpParis #Anonymous #ExpectUs."

‘Anonymous’ had launched an operation called #OpParis on Tuesday with the aim of continuing its earlier efforts to disable and suspend as many Twitter accounts as possible, linked to ISIS.

“They want to strike terror with their name, with bloody images, with violent videos. We cannot fight them with guns and rifles, stopping their propaganda is an effective way to weaken their manpower and their presence in the Internet. Disrupting their communications makes it difficult to organize their attacks in a fluid manner,” a member of the group told BBC.

The hacking collective has stepped up its efforts against ISIS following the horrific Paris terror attacks on Friday which claimed the lives of 129 people.
