Bengaluru-based ride-hailing company Ola has launched a self-drive called ‘Ola Drive’. This car rental service allows one to rent cars from two hours to a period of three months. The first phase will see Ola Drive being offered as a short-term subscription service with Ola planning to introduce long-term subscription and corporate amongst other options, in the long run.

The service has been initially rolled out for users in Bengaluru with Hyderabad, Mumbai, and New Delhi to follow shortly. This will be available on the Ola app under the ‘Drive’ tab.

Ola intends to host a fleet of 20,000 cars by 2020.

Users will be able to customise their package and need only pay for the kilometres they drive. All cars will come with in-built Ola Play and with navigation tools.

Ola Drive houses a fleet of popular car brands from every segment including economy and premium hatchbacks, premium sedans, compact and premium SUVs and luxury cars.

Users will also have access to the platform’s support and safety features such as a 24/7 helpline, emergency button, real-time tracking and roadside assistance.

Ola will introduce the service to users in Bengaluru through pick-up stations located across different residential and commercial hubs.

With this offering, Ola will be directly competing with Zoomcar, Drivezy, Revv, among others.

“Ola has been deep-rooted in India’s mobility landscape, building technology enabled transportation solutions for millions of users. Our expertise in serving millions of customers through a large fleet of vehicles across 250 plus cities has been instrumental in making ride-hailing a norm in India. Ola Drive has been built on the same DNA and will play a transformative role in defining India’s car-sharing market in the next decade,” Arun Srinivas, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at Ola said in a statement.
