Miscreants in Hyderabad beat up an Ola cab driver on Saturday and robbed him of his cash and phone before driving away with his car.

The incident happened at Suraram and the driver, Basha, has filed a police complaint.

According to reports, the accused booked a cab via the Ola app at around 1 30 am to travel from Vanasthalipuram to Bachupally.

The Times of India added:

Basha reached the appointed spot where three passengers got into his car. An hour into the drive, the passengers got him to turn and head towards Suraram. There, they asked Basha to stop the car at an under-construction building near a forested area, police said. Basha sensed trouble but had to follow the instructions.  He was asked to get out of the vehicle. The accused then beat him up and sped away with the car.

The report adds that the car was however found later, wrecked, near the Outer Ring Road in Bongulur.

"The fleeing robbers ended up dashing the vehicle into the roaddivider on the Outer Ring Road. The car jumped the divider and landed on the other side of the road. But the whereabouts of the three persons is unknown," Dundigal sub-inspector Ramesh told TOI.
