Actor Mohanlal – whose upcoming mega budget film Odiyan has sent the fan pulse racing – unveiled the first motion poster of the film on Monday on Facebook Live.
The motion poster shows Mohanlal looking much younger and muscular. Dressed in a simple sleeveless shirt, the actor looks deceptively innocent and playful. The poster ends with the star laughing in his trademark style.
The thrilling music with chants of 'Odiyan' only adds to the mystery surrounding the character.
The makeover is sending fans into paroxysms of anticipation, as they cannot wait to see Mohanlal play the superhuman hero again, after Pulimurugan.
On Sunday, the actor did a Live video in which he stood in the shadows and promised to show his Odiyan avatar to fans when daylight comes.
Calling himself "Odiyan Manickyan", he went on to say that he was here to spread the blanket of darkness for the King of the night and that it wouldn't do justice for the form of Odiyan to be revealed on a "dark, amavasi night like this". Instead, people should watch him in the theatres.
Odiyan produced by Antony Perumbavoor and directed by VA Shrikumar Menon has a whopping budget of Rs 600 crore and is said to be a fantasy thriller.
According to Malayalam folklore, Odiyan is a shape-shifting assassin. The myth has strong connections to the caste system and the violence perpetrated because of it. According to sources, these powerful assassins belonged to oppressed castes and were hired by those higher than them in the hierarchy to destroy rivals.
