After Prime Minister Narendra Modi was featured on Time Magazine’s list of “The 100 Most Influential People”, US President Barack Obama has written a short piece in the Magazine on the Indian PM.

Titled “India’s reformer-in-chief”, the piece starts off talking about Modi’s humble origins mentioning his rise as he writes: “Today, he’s the leader of the world’s largest democracy”. Obama also says that his story reflects the “dynamism and potential” of India’s rise as a nation.

The US President also draws attention to the PM’s vision of a “digital India” and his vision of a country which is committed to reduce poverty, to “improve education, empower women and girls” and tap into the country’s “economic potential” while combating its climatic repercussions.

Reflecting on the PM’s visit to the US last year and their visit to the memorial of Martin Luther King Jr. he says that he hoped the two countries will continue to protect their diversities.

“Prime Minister Modi recognizes that more than 1 billion Indians living and succeeding together can be an inspiring model for the world”, he ends.
