The News Minute | August 23, 2014| 8.54 am IST Pooja Gandhi was granted bail after she surrendered to a local court in Raichur on Friday.  According to a report in The Hindu, the II Additional District and Sessions Court had issued a warrant for her arrest on August 2 after she failed to appear in court twice, in a case of violation of the model code of conduct. Gandhi contested the Assembly election in 2013 from the Raichur seat on a BSR Congress. She was with the Janata Dal (Secular) earlier. Speaking to reporters after getting bail, Gandhi, who recently mired in controversy with her film Abhinetri, said that she could not appear in court because her film was held by legal hassles. She said: “All obstacles for the release of Abhinetri have been removed by the High Court of Karnataka which vacated a stay order. The film would hit the screens in the second week of September. Now, the film is before the Karnataka Censor Board and the date of release will be announced after the board approves it.”
