Nokia has unveiled in the Indian market its premium smartphone, the Nokia 9 PureView. The device has been a long time in coming to the Indian market with speculation doing the rounds for some time. The new smartphone from HMD Global has been positioned as a photography device with 5 sensors in the rear.

To start with the basic specifications of the new smartphone, it sports a 5.99-inch POLED display that is described as QUAD HD+. The screen resolution is 1440x2960pixels and the aspect ration 18.5:9. The top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 845SoC processor is fitted with a RAM support of 6GB. The Nokia 9 PureView smartphone will come with an onboard storage capacity of 128GB. The Android Pie version 9 will be the operating system. The phone has a 3350mAh battery.

The optics section, as mentioned, is going to be the highlight of this new model from Nokia with 5x12MP cameras fitted in the rear and they are all Zeiss-certified lending them the authenticity in term of the picture quality delivered by them. Two of the 12MP sensors are monochrome while the remaining three are RGB. It has been explained that whenever a photo is clicked using the rear cameras, all five sensors come into play and a fused image is then sent to the gallery or wherever it is intended to be stored/sent.

The front camera for selfies is a 20MP sensor. There is an under-display fingerprint sensor provided on this phone.

Regarding the other specifications and features, the Nokia 9 PureView has the anti-dust and water resistance certification IP67 and the connectivity options will be complete. HMD Global has done away with the 3.5mm audio jack in this phone and there is the USB-C type port for charging and other purposes.

The price of this new phone, as indicated, will be Rs 49,999 in India. It goes on sale online first on Flipkart and the Nokia website. You can pick up the phone from offline retailers beginning July 17. Nokia is offering a gift card of Rs 5,000 as well as free Nokia 705 earbuds on its own website, but this offer may not last for long.

The usual launch-time offers on credit and debit cards can be availed, including some cashback offers at the retail outlets.

Nokia has introduced a unique concierge experience for the Nokia 9 PureView owners for the first 30 days through Nokia Mobile Care. This includes access to trainers for expert tips and tricks.
