The Hyderabad High Court on Monday declined the petition for a re autopsy of Viqaruddin Ahmed and also the registration of an FIR against the police personnel involved in the Warangal encounter on April 7.The court was dealing with a petition filed by Ahmed, Viqar's father, which claimed that the Alair police had hastily conducted post mortem and has not disclosed any report yet. According to a report in the Deccan Chronicle, J. Ramachandra Rao, additional advocate general, defended its stand saying that the government has already constituted a special investigation team (SIT) on the incident.(Viqar Ahmed)The incident which has been shadowed by the police encounter of 20 alleged smugglers in Chittoor, occurred around 80 km from Hyderabad when the police shot and killed Viqaruddin Ahmed and four of his associates - Syed Amjed, Izhar Khan, Mohammed Haneef and Mohammed Zakir. The five people were accused of killing two policemen and were arrested in 2010 after a series of attacks on the Hyderabad police. They were lodged in the Warangal Central Jail and were being bought to Hyderabad when the incident occurred. The police claim that the accused tried to escape by snatching a weapon, to which the police responded by shooting and killing all five accused. Though the request for a fresh autopsy was dismissed, the judge admitted the main petitions and posted the hearing on June 8.
