There have been reports that Jr NTR’s upcoming film Jai Lava Kusa is a remake of the Ajith starrer Varalaru. But the filmmakers have now clarified that it is not a remake but a fresh script. Clarifying on this, a source close to the film unit said that in Varalaru, Ajith had played triple roles; that of the father and two sons but in Jai Lava Kusa all the three roles that Jr NTR will be playing are youngsters. The source added that the star’s roles can be termed as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Jai Lava Kusa, directed by KS Ravindra aka Bobby, stars Raashi Khanna and Nivedha Thomas as the female leads. The film is bankrolled by N Kalyan Ram, brother of Jr NTR, under the banner NTR Arts. Earlier, it was reported that the Kannada actor Duniya Vijay would be playing the antagonist in the movie but he opted out later citing date issues. The film also has Nanditha Raj, Hamsa Nandini, Priyadarshi Pullikonda and Abhimanyu Singh in the star cast.

Devi Sri Prasad is composing music for this film with Chota K Naidu cranking the camera and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao roped in for editing. The action drama is gearing up for release in August / September this year.

It may be mentioned that Jr NTR’s last release Janatha Garage, which also had Mohanlal as one of the leads, was a massive hit and the film was released in Telugu as well as Malayalam. Both the versions turned out to be hits and it also went on to increase the star’s fan base in Mollywood. Following this, there is a huge demand for the dubbing rights of Jai Lava Kusa and reports are that it has been sold for Rs. 5 crore.
