The News Minute | November 12. 2014 | 03:42 pm ISTThe people in Vijayawada are liable to be detained if they are out on the streets between 11 pm and 6 am without a valid identity. In a press release on Tuesday, police commissioner A.B. Venkateswara Rao said that people out on the roads at night would be picked up for questioning.According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, the police have increased night vigil near Pundit Nehru Bus Stand, Vijayawada Railway Station and other important places where there is activity throughout the night. This decision comes in wake of the recent anti social activities like chain snatching which is on the rise in the city. Special drives may also be conducted on roads.Citizens have also been asked to carry vehicle records like registration card and driving license if they are driving during the night.Though the ID cards are mandatory post 11 pm, Vijayawada police did surprise checks on Wednesday morning and detained some people without valid proof.
