Rajinikanth’s 2.o, a magnum opus directed by S Shankar and produced by Subhashkaran’s Lyca Productions, is currently in progress and after completing this project, the Superstar will be moving over to his next which will be helmed by Pa Ranjith. Incidentally, Rajinikanth and Ranjith had teamed up for Kabali last year and this will be their second outing together. Right from the day Ranjith had announced the project, there have been rumours about Rajini’s leading lady in the film.
The biggest of all rumours was that Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone may be paired up with the Superstar. However, this rumour has been quashed by the director. When a fan questioned about Deepika’s inclusion in the star cast, Ranjith replied that it was untrue.
The groundwork for this untitled film is on and details regarding the cast and crew are expected to be out soon. Actor-producer Dhanush, who also happens to be Rajinikanth’s son-in-law, will be bankrolling this project under his banner Wunderbar Films. The film is expected to start rolling later this year.
It may be mentioned here that Deepika had paired up with Rajinikanth in the Soundarya Rajinikanth directorial, Kochadaiyaan.
