Writing in his weekly column in the Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan, actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan has said that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan clears all his political doubts.

Writing about the sound advice he received from the Kerala Chief Minister, Kamal states, “The first feedback I got was to never back down from my first step. This was from Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Whatever political doubts I have, I get it cleared from him. In addition to that, I talk to other political leaders here. My talks are not about asking them to join my party. I want to get to know and learn from their political experience.”

Kamal Haasan had met Pinrayi Vijayan in September 2017 as part of his ‘journey of learning’. Kamal also met other leaders like Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal as well as Mamata Banerjee at a conference.

After Rajinikanth’s entry into politics, Kamal and Rajini have both been asked if there would be any kind of union of the two. Addressing this, Kamal wrote, “'Is there a possibility that you and Rajini would together face elections?' We are being asked this question constantly. Rajini had said, ‘time will tell’. I said that I too would follow that. Really, time will only tell. I have to start a party. He has to announce his party. We have to see if that aligns. So it is not a decision that can be taken now. Other than that, we both need to think if that is necessary.”

The actor-turned-politician has become increasingly critical of the Tamil Nadu government following the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. In November last year, he had confirmed his political entry by announcing the launch of a whistleblower app.

In his earlier weekly column, Kamal Haasan said that he will start his yatra from former President Abdul Kalam’s house in Ramanathapuram on February 21.
