The News Minute | July 1, 2014 | 08:26 am ISTThe Mandur village in the outskirts of Bangalore has been in the news a lot lately, with villagers holding protests against Bangalore's garbage being dumped at a landfill situated in their villages. For almost a decade, the city's garbage has been dumped in Mandur, and in spite of many promises, the city authorities have not reduced the amount dumped.The issue echoed in the Karnataka assembly too, with MLAS cutting across party lines asking the Bangalore Corporation to find a solution and means for dealing with garbage. The local MLA Aravind Limbavali told the assembly that other than the issues of health and stench, Mandur's men were finding it difficult to find brides. The MLA told the assembly that heaps of garbage has become a serious health hazard and nobody wants to get married to the residents of Mandur.
