Nivin Pauly’s debut in Kollywood was with the hit bilingual Neram which was released in Malayalam as well as Tamil. And his first direct Tamil movie will be Richie which is slated for release on December 1st.

The makers of this film had announced several dates for its release earlier but had to postpone for various reasons. Finally, it now looks like Richie will hit the theatres on December 1st. Directed by Gautham Ramachandran, Richie is a Tamil anthology neo noir action crime film that has Nivin playing the lead role with Shraddha Srinath as his heroine.

Playing the supporting roles in the film are Natarajan Subramaniam, Ashok Selvan, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, Prakash Raj, Aadukalam Murugadoss and G. K. Reddy. Produced by Anand Kumar and Vinod Shornur under the banner CAST n' CREW, Richie is a remake of the hit Kannada movie Ulidavaru Kandanthe written and directed by Rakshit Shetty.

Earlier, director Gautham Ramachandran and actor Nivin Pauly were keen on making it as a bilingual – Tamil and Malayalam – but the plan was later dropped. Eventually, Richie was made only in Tamil making it Nivin’s direct Tamil movie.

B. Ajaneesh Loknath has scored the music for this flick with Athul Vijay taking care of the editing. According to the director, he has made a lot of changes to the Tamil version and added that he has retained just a few scenes from the original. The plot of the film has been changed along with the characters and the reasoning, he is reported to have told in an interview earlier.

With Nivin Pauly riding high on success with films like Premam, Sakhavu, and Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela, expectations are high over Richie
