Months after popular singer Karthik was anonymously accused of sexual misconduct as part of the 'Me Too' movement, the musician has finally opened up in a statement, claiming that he has “never intentionally acted in a way that would make anybody feel uncomfortable or unsafe.” The anonymous post was tweeted by singer Chinmayi.

Tweeting a short letter from his official handle, Karthik began by acknowledging his long hiatus on social media. He then updated his followers on different aspects of his life, briefing things under subheads like “on anonymous allegations”, “on personal front” and “on work front”.

Months after remaining silent about the allegations, Karthik has claimed that he would never harass anybody “ignoring their consent”. He further requests those who were hurt by his actions to reach out to him directly.

Adding that he believes in facing consequences and pledging his support to the 'Me Too' movement, Karthik has offered to apologise or face legal consequences “if there’s truth in anybody’s grievance”.

“True to my conscience I have never hurt any human being or harassed anybody ignoring their consent. I want to put it out there that I have never intentionally acted in a way that would make anybody feel uncomfortable or unsafe. If anybody felt hurt because of my actions in the past, please reach out to me directly. I do believe in facing consequences of one’s actions. I fully support MeToo and if there’s truth in anybody’s grievance, I shall be more than willing to apologise or face legal action because I don’t want to ever leave a sour taste in anyone’s life,” reads the letter.

Karthik also announced in the letter that his father has been facing a “life-threatening” medical issue and hence he would not be able to commit to the upcoming season of the reality TV show SaReGaMaPa on Zee Tamil. Karthik judges this reality music competition along with singers Srinivas and Vijay Prakash.
