A 26-year-old software engineer was allegedly killed by his neighbour after the former refused to lend him Rs 10,000.

The incident occured near Hyderabad's Lingampally railway station on Monday and came to light after the techie's family filed a missing complaint.

Times of India reported that Vallipalli Hashim had joined TCS as a software engineer five days ago and was staying at a rented accommodation at Balkampet, where he became friends with his neighbour, S Naresh Reddy.

The report adds that Hashim left his office around 6.30 pm on Monday and picked up Reddy from Cyber Towers, following which the latter took him to an isolated place near the Lingampally railway station.

Deccan Chronicle report adds that Reddy then asked for Rs 10,000 from Hashmi, which the latter didn’t have. An argument soon broke out and Reddy smashed Hashmi's head with a stone.

"Reddy confessed to the crime. He killed Hashmi, stole his gold chain, his phone and fled on his bike," Gachibowli inspector J. Ramesh told the newspaper.
