Disappointed with Naxal ideology, a key Maoist functionary carrying a reward of Rs two lakh on his head on Saturday surrendered before police in Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh's East Godavari district.

Madivi Devayya alias Vinodh, who joined the armed movement in 2008, was a member of state committee of CPI (Maoist), East Godavari Superintendent of Police M Ravi Prakash said.

The 24-year-old, a native of Vissapuram village under Yetapaka mandal in East Godavari district, was one of the most wanted Naxals in the state and was involved in offences like ambush on policemen, he said.

Devayya was disappointment with the Naxal ideology and wanted to lead a peaceful life. Hence, he turned himself in before police, he added.
