AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala's husband, M Natarajan, on Monday said that there was nothing wrong if his family was involved in politics.
Speaking in Thanjavur on Monday, he said, "My wife Sasikala was protecting Jayalalithaa for 30 years. When she was denied permission to see MGR's body, we took her to the funeral. When she was pushed down from the funeral vehicle of MGR, our family members stood in support of her and all through her life...So, there is nothing immoral if our family members are involved in politics."
“Auditor Gurumurthy is spearheading the conspiracy of Brahmins against Dravidians. I am not accusing all Brahmins of conspiracy but 10% of them are plotting to saffronize the state,“ he said, according to TOI.
Natarajan was speaking on the final day of a Pongal event in Thanjavur.
Speaking at the same event, Sasikala’s brother V Dhivaharan had earlier claimed that there was a huge conspiracy to kill former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in 2011, which they stopped.
"In 2011, there was a huge conspiracy against us. They wanted to remove us so that they can finish off Amma. Nothing happened then, we stopped it. We don't have any hidden agenda,” Dhivaharan said.
He also went on to talk about Natarajan, saying, “We are not mushrooms that sprouted today due to rain yesterday. We are not new to politics, everyone has played their part in AIADMK's progress over the years. But it is important to mention Natarajan’s contributions. He saved the party after MGR. He was instrumental in getting back the two leaves symbol of the AIADMK which was blocked by the EC.”
He added, “Everyone can forget his contribution, but I can’t. In spite of threats to our lives, we strived for the party and made Jayalalithaa the opposition leader and then the CM. Youngsters now don’t know this history.”
Natarajan, in his speech on Monday, also stated that present TN CM O Panneerselvam was doing a good job and there was no need to 'change' the present chief minister.
"As Chief Minister, O Panneerselvam is carrying forward the good governance of AIADMK. We (the party) have no necessity or rush to change the leadership. Such issues can only be discussed by the party's high command. As an observer, I request media not to create controversy," he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, in another development, Sasikala sent out a message to party workers on the eve of the birth centenary of AIADMK founder MG Ramachandran.
Asking party workers to “continue their victory march in the path laid out by Amma", she said, "Although no one can fill the void left behind by Purathchi Thalaivi Amma, crores of party workers who are its roots now, face a big responsibility. They have to ensure that they do not allow enemies to exploit the crisis created by the sudden demise of Amma by any means."
