Nambiar 100: An event to celebrate the legendary star's centenary year

The event is being organised by his grandson Siddharth and Nambiar’s second son Mohan Nambiar and will be taking place on November 19.

MN Nambiar is famous for playing the villain in Tamil movies and no Tamil movie in the MGR and Sivaji's era would be complete without the presence of this iconic actor who dominated the industry in the role of villain for around 50 years. He has done over 1000 films in Tamil, and he has acted in Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi as well.

The family of the veteran actor will now be organising a grand event in his memory as part of his centenary year. The event is being organised by his grandson Siddharth and Nambiar’s second son Mohan Nambiar and will be taking place on November 19.

The event is being expected to be graced by stars from all film industries. Speaking to DC, Siddharth Nambiar, the actor's grandson said, "We are celebrating the centenary of my legendary grandpa on November 19, with Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja and DGP Vijayakumar as chief Guests."

The organisers have also invited Superstar Rajinikanth, Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan, Shivaraj Kumar, Bhagyaraj, P Vasu and Venniradai Nirmala.

Nambiar was a great devotee of Sabarimalai Aiyappan and undertook annual pilgrimages to the shrine for over 65 years. He was one of those instrumental in popularising the comparatively unknown deity over the years. Starting from Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan, Kannada star Rajkumar, Sivaji Ganesan and Rajinikanth and many others from the film industry have been a part of his Sabarimala pilgrimage groups.

Earlier this year his grandson Dipak Nambiar authored a book on his grandfather titled "Nambiarswamy: The Good, the Bad and the Holy" that captures the significant cinematic and cultural events that took place from 1940 to 2006. The book was released on March 7, 2019, which marked Nambiar’s 100 birthday.
