A day after the mysterious death of a teenaged girl in Hyderabad, whose body was found two days after she went missing, her parents said that they suspected that it was a murder.

The school student, identified as 17-year-old Maya*, was reported missing from her Miyapur home on Saturday night and her body was found abandoned behind rocks, near a construction site in Ameenpur on Monday evening.

Speaking to media persons, Maya's family said that she was not weak, and would not commit suicide, no matter what the reason was.

“She is a very strong girl and cannot commit suicide. She did not have any problems too. This is a clear case of murder and the killers should be arrested immediately,” her sister was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, her school in Bachupally also organised a condolence meet for the deceased.

"Dear Parent. With immense grief and sorrow, we convey to you the mysterious death of Maya*, a 12th grader of our school. Police investigations are on. We have seen her growing up for the last 13 years and unable to bear the shock. May God rest her soul in peace," the school said in a message.

The deceased left home at around 5pm on Saturday and said that she was going to meet some friends.

When her phone was unreachable at 6:30pm, the family tried to contact her friends, and later went to the police station to lodge a complaint.

Since the parents first approached Miyapur police, a case of kidnapping was registered, as she was a minor.

However, after her body was found on Monday evening, the police also registered a case of suspicious death and murder.

The police also said that there were no external injuries on the body.

Forensic evidence was also collected from the spot where the body was found, and the highly decomposed body was sent for a post-mortem.

“We have sent viscera, hyoid bone, blood, hair and nail samples to FSL for analysis. This does not appear like a suicide,“ a doctor told the Times of India

Speaking to TOI, a police source added, “In a CCTV footage, the victim was seen getting down from an auto at Ameenpur with a guy on Saturday evening and walking towards the spot where she was found."
