Two more suspects were arrested on Sunday in the murder of a security guard at late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s Kodanadu tea estate. They were arrested by the Kerala police in connection to a burglary case.

The two suspects are J Jithin who hails from Malappuram and A Shamsher who is from Wayanad.

Speaking to The News Minute, the investigating officer, S Murali, said, “We were searching for these two suspects and the Kerala police was also looking for them for another case. They are part of the 11-member gang. We have to take permission from the court to question them.”

The police team investigating the case said that the gang from Thrissur had been called into Tamil Nadu by Sayan alias Shyam and Jayalalithaa’s ex-driver Kanagaraj, both of whom are prime accused in the case.

On Sunday, Dr. T. Sundarrajan, head of the Department of Emergency Medicine at G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital, who is treating Sayan alias Shyam, the second accused in the case, said that he is in stable condition but will be kept in ICU under tight security.

Sayan alias Shyam was in an accident while travelling with his family from Thrissur to Palakkad on Friday night. His wife Vinupriya (27) and daughter Neethu (5) died immediately. Their bodies have been taken to the Palakkad District Government Hospital.

On Saturday, Kanagaraj was also found dead in Salem. He reportedly died in a road accident near Attur on Friday night. Reports suggest that Kanagaraj, who was riding his bike, was hit by a Karnataka registration car near Attur at 8.30pm on Friday.

On April 24, a security guard, Om Bahadur, who was guarding Gate No 9 of Jayalalithaa’s Kodanadu tea estate was found murdered. Krishna Bahadur, another guard, was also injured by the gang.
