The News Minute| December 26, 2014| 03.22 pm IST | Updated 06:33 pm ISTFinancial troubles continue to trouble the Rajinikanth family and with a new addition to it, there seems little reason for the Superstar family to relax.Mumbai-based EXIM bank has issued a notice to guarantor, Latha Rajinikanth asking her to repay an amount of over Rs. 22 crore along with interest and other liquidated damages. The demand notice dated September 15, 2014 called on her to repay an amount of Rs. 22, 22, 85,865. 18 as she was the guarantor for financial assistance provided to Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd, the producers of Tamil movie, Kochadaiyaan.A press release by MediaOne Global however said that the company was in the process of clearing the loan on or before March 30, 2015.It also said that the bank's move to call upon guarantors Latha Rajinikanth and Dr. Devender CR to repay the loan when the borrowers were making necessary arrangements as 'not unwarranted'.Earlier in the first week of December, the superstar’s wife and Kochadaiyaan producer Dr J Murali Manohar were embroiled in another financial issue after a complaint was filed by a firm holding them responsible for cheating them of Rs. 10 crore after agreeing to provide them distribution rights of the movie in Tamil Nadu, reported Deccan Chronicle. In the complaint , the firm Ad Bureau Advertising Pvt Ltd said that Manohar, director of Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd had sold the rights for the film to their agency which was guaranteed by Latha Rajinikanth. However, the producer and guarantor sold the rights to Eros International, the complaint said according to the report. Eros , of which Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin is the CEO also became the same company which bought the distribution rights for Rajini’s latest movie Lingaa.                                                                                                                              Picture courtesy: Facebook KochadaiyaanEven way back in 2007 the family faced trouble when Soundarya began her mammoth project working for Rajinikanth’s next venture, the animated movie Sultan. The project was shelved, however, its co-producers for the fim , Reliance Films took Ocher Studios owned by Soundarya to court – for not paying Rs 11.59 crore in outstanding dues. Even after that, Ocher met yet another misfortune when it was dragged to court when financiers of Goa, Soundaraya’s next production, took the company to court. Ocher Studios was soon shut down when Rana, a project Rajinikanth intended to do with his friend and directpr KS Ravikumar was also shelved when the superstar fell sick. Even though her production house, Ocher was shut down, she quickly made her way back with her work on the Rs. 120 crore Kochadaiyyam movie in 2011. Some of Rajini’s movies have never materialized. While some have been shelved, others like his latest-move Lingaa has not done quite well at the box office.
