The ‘moral policing’ of a sub-inspector and a woman near Kochi has taken a new turn. The woman has claimed that her family had invited him for dinner, and the sub-inspector has blamed the drugs mafia.

On Thursday evening a group of people assaulted a Puthencruz station sub-inspector and allegedly molested the woman after they were ‘found’ in her house. They were held captive for about two hours before police rescued them.

Within hours of its occurrence, a video of the incident went viral in social media. The officer has been suspended.

The 21-year-old woman told Asianet news that she was not a television actor. “He came here after my father invited him for dinner. When we tried to block the attack, my younger sister and mother were also assaulted by the people and they were seriously injured,” she said.

The police officer said that he had visited the family to have dinner and to discuss a complaint they had given.

“Drug mafia is behind this as I have taken stringent action against them,” he told media.

Police have registered a case against 15 people for allegedly beating up the SI and seven persons for misbehaving with the woman.

According to police, three of the people who attacked the SI had been held earlier on charges of drug trafficking.

Meanwhile photograph of serial actress Lakshmi Sanal took rounds in social media claiming that SI visited her house. She has registered a complaint with the cyber police for spreading false news about her.
