Joju, one of the directors of Ittymaani: Made in China, has revealed that Mohanlal will be playing dual roles in the film. The star will be seen as a father and his son in the movie. However, the role of the father will be much less, we hear. He was quoted by the Times of India as saying, “We would be showing Ittymaani’s father in only a few scenes and that was filmed in China.”

Ittymaani: Made in China is being directed by debut directors Jibi and Joju and bankrolled by Anthony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas.

About a picture where Mohanlal is seen as a Chinese martial artist, Joju said, “That was part of a song sequence we filmed that has Lal (Mohanlal) sir’s character as well as a few Tai Chi fighters. The character per se is not a martial artist in the movie.”

Shooting in China was a different experience, the co-director said. He pointed out, “People in China are sticklers for time and plan. When we say the shooting has to start at 6 am, they are there on the dot. So, the shooting went smoothly. The only issue we faced was that it was raining the four days we were there in China. Just before we arrived and soon after we left, it was sunny. So, we weaved in the weather as part of song sequences as well.”

A poster revealed a couple of months ago showed Mohanlal in Margam Kali costume, dancing with 512 others, in front of a church. Radikaa Sarathkumar, who had acted opposite him in the 1985 film Koodum Thedi, will also act in this film.

The shooting has now been wrapped up and it has now gone into the post production stage.  It is expected to hit the marquee later this year.
