It was announced some time ago that Mohanlal has signed up a comedy entertainer titled Ittymaani Made in China. According to the latest update on this project, we hear that the shooting will commence in April this year. The star is currently busy with the magnum opus Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham and will be wrapping up the shooting in a few weeks. After this, he intends to join the sets of Ittymaani Made In China.

The film will be directed by debutants Jibi and Joju and will be bankrolled by Anthony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas. The title poster that has been released before, featured a laughing Buddha, giving a clear indication that it will be a comic caper.

Mohanlal has quite a few movies lined up. After completing Ittymaani Made In China, he will begin work on Siddique’s Big Brother.

Mohanlal’s Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is a star studded film with top stars making it to the cast. The film, directed by Priyadarshan, reportedly has Prabhu, Suneil Shetty, Manju Warrier, Arjun Sarja, Mukesh and Keerthy Suresh in pivotal roles.

National Award-winning art director Sabu Cyril is taking care of the art department and extravagant sets have been erected at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, where the shooting commenced.

Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, made on a budget of Rs 100 crore, will be produced jointly by Antony Perumbavoor, Santhosh T Kuruvilla and CJ Roy under their respective banners Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment. The film is based on the true life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. The title ‘Kunjali Marakkar’ was bestowed on naval chiefs during the 16th century and these naval chiefs fought valiantly against the Portuguese army. There were four Kunjali Marakkars during that era, of which the fourth is the most valiant and popular.

The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer Tirru and editor MS Ayyappan Nair. Marakkar will be a 2020 release.
