A minor girl was gangraped in the outskirts of Gajwel town in Telangana’s Siddipet, by a man who befriended her over phone calls and his friends. According to the police, the incident took place earlier this week, late night on Wednesday. The accused are yet to be arrested, and are absconding.

Speaking to TNM Jagadevpur police said that the survivor has alleged that her friend along with two others gangraped her in an isolated place. Police said that one of the main accused befriended her over the phone and convinced her to go out with him before committing the crime.

Jagadevpur Sub Inspector of Police, one of the investigating officers, said, "On 15th night, she was taken away on one of the accused’s bikes. She alleged that after taking her to an isolated place, he forced himself on her and then called two others who also raped her." The accused allegedly held her captive for more than 12 hours.

The SI said, "She later managed to come to the police station to lodge a complaint. We have taken her to a hospital and provided treatment. Her condition is stable, required medical tests were performed."

Police have registered a case under IPC sections 376 (Punishment for Rape) and 366 (Abducting women against her will), and Protectction of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012.

The survivor has also revealed that the same accused sexually assaulted her earlier this month, too. The SI said, "She alleged that she was taken away by the accused and was subjected to sexual assault.” Police suspect that the survivor was forced and threatened with serious consequences if she didn’t agree to what the accused demanded.

The survivor is a Dalit girl, and the accused are suspected to be from Gajwel town. The case is being supervised by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) rank officer. According to the police, special teams have been formed to nab the accused.

Police said that the call records and details of the accused as given in the survivor’s statement are being used in the process.
