The News Minute| August 9, 2014| 11.30 am IST A 13-year-old girl from Darjeeling, who was working as a house help in a techie couple’s house in Bangalore, is out of danger, but has not yet recovered enough for the police to get a statement from her.  Additional Commissioner of Police K V Sharatchandra told reporters that the child was out of danger, but the police would speak to her on Sunday or Monday, depending on medical advice. She needed ventilator support until Saturday, and had been shifted between four hospitals since she was first admitted to NIMHANS on Thursday. She is currently Victoria Hospital.  The couple has been arrested by the Bangalore police for allegedly assaulting the child. The 13 year old has been assaulted so badly that she had not regained consciousness since Thursday. The couple, Neekunj Todi and his wife Nafiza Usmani took the girl to a hospital on Thursday and claimed she used to get epileptic attacks. Later, when the doctors questioned them about injury marks, they left the hospital. The child was later shifted to Nimhans hospital, and later back to the other hospital. Doctors say the girl has suffered from a head injury and there are injury marks all over her body- fresh and old. Police sources say they believe that the child was regularly assaulted for not doing her work 'fast enough’ and for taking food from the kitchen. Dr Chandandas, medical director of Blossoms Hospital confirms that the child has a blood clot on her head and was probably tied up as there are marks on her hands and feet. The couple has made various claims for the reason behind tying up the child, including that she used to suffer from an itching problem. Meanwhile, the doctors and police are waiting for the child to regain consciousness
