This is one technological development smartphone users will love to adopt. The Indian mobile manufacturer and world’s 10th largest handset maker Micromax has invested consumer technology startup ‘One Labs’ to imbibe its app which will have more than 50 apps inside it.

The benefit from this is that this app, named ‘inOne’, would be just around 10MB in size and have diverse apps residing inside it like Zomato, Ola, Uber, Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal, Housejoy, Nearbuy, Urban Clap, ixigo and BookMyShow. In terms of categories, you can find food, shopping, travel, deals, cabs, news, recharge and games and many more.

Just imagine the amount of internal storage space you would be able to save on your device, in addition to avoiding the phone getting slower. A rough estimate shows that up to 3GB of space can be freed by installing the ‘inOne’ app.

While currently around 50+ apps are available, One Labs is planning to take it to above 200 apps over the next one year and if they succeed, it could become a path-breaking development in smarphone technology. The company has admitted that the real challenge was in accommodating so many apps within 10MB and they claim to possess the patent for this as well.

The inOne app is a product of One Labs and Micromax has now made an investment in this startup and all future Micromax devices would have this app pre-embedded in them. Other phone users can download it from the Google Play Store and install. The partnership between One Labs and Micromax will also see a lot of artificial intelligence (AI) based chatbot aptly named One Assistant that will have features similar to the voice assistants already in use.

A unique feature with ‘inOne’ is that you can get it to make a comparison of a product across different sources. For example, if you intend buying a mobile, the app can show you a comparison of the device on Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Paytm.

“We are proud to be working Micromax to bring over 100 million Micromax consumers closer to our compelling platform. While phone hardware is getting smarter and more efficient, we wanted to make apps smarter. Like Mobiles replaced pagers, we foresee that in a few years all in one app like inOne will replace the need to download separate apps for different use cases,” Rahul Gupta, the CEO and Co-founder, One Labs said.

For Micromax, this new development is seen as an extension of its earlier similar tie-ups with tech startups like Ixigo, Healthifyme, IndusOS, Gaana.com and others to offer a better user experience to its loyal customers.
