The News Minute | October 9, 2014 | 09:20 am IST The Managing Director of an IT company was given a sentence of ten years rigorous imprionment for raping a new employee at his office in Chennai. Arrested in May, after the 21 year-old woman’s family filed a complaint after she attempted suicide, the Managing Director, Antony John Milton, has been given a ten year sentence and a fine of Rs. 26,000, said The Times of India. After the woman was appointed in the MD’s office, she was repeatedly raped saying that it was ‘common practice in IT culture’, said the report.  He had threatened her with a video and also asked her to get other new female employees to be involved with him, said the report. He was found guilty under Sections 376(rape), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506(2)(criminal intimidation) of the IPC apart from sections of the TN prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.
