Rohith Vemula's mother Radhika Vemula unfurled the national flag in Una on Monday, during the Dalit Asmita Yatra, saying that the country belongs to all people, and not just to those who belonged to one religion or caste.

Organized to protest the atrocities against Dalits and the Mota Samadhiyala assault in particular, the Chalo Una rally in Gir Somnath district saw a massive turn out. Catch a glimpse of the crowd, in a video uploaded on Twitter by journalist Sudipto Mondal.

Besides Radhika and her son Raja, some of Rohith Vemula's friends from the Hyderabad Centrall Unviersity including Sannakki Munna, Dhontha Prashanth were also present during the rally.

Radhika, who has become one of the faces of the Dalit assertion following her son Rohith’s death, addressed the gathering. She congratulated the Dalits of Gujarat for forcing Anandiben Patel to resign as chief minister, journalist Sudipto Mondal tweeted.

Sudipto also tweeted snippets of Dalit leader Jignesh Mewani’s speech.

He also alleged that the national media had decided to boycott the rally.

He also tweeted that the Kanhaiya Kumar spoke to the people gathered and left the venue even as Radhika spoke. This distracted the crowd.

Thousands of Dalits took an oath to not “clean shit” anymore, according to a Twitter user:

Dalit Camera alleged that two journalists - one male and one female - were assaulted by miscreants. Upper caste men assaulted Dalits on their way to Una for the rally, Dalit Camera alleged:
