A youth, allegedly kidnapped from Nalgonda town, died under suspicious circumstances in Hyderabad on Thursday, police said.

Two unidentified persons left 23-year-old Shobhan Babu at Medisys Hospital in Vanasthalipuram on the city outskirts in the early hours of Thursday.

The doctors declared him dead and informed the police as the persons who brought him had disappeared.

As the youth's body bore injury marks, police registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances and shifted the body for autopsy.

The suspects were later picked up after being identified through CCTV images captured in the premises of the hospital.

“We verified the CCTV footage at the hospital, and it was found that there were two persons accompanying the victim. Shoban's parents identified the duo as Yadagiri and Rajesh when we showed them the footage. The motive and location of the crime can be ascertained only after arresting the two friends,'' Vanasthalipuram inspector Murali Krishna told TOI.

“We suspect they had a fight after consuming alcohol near Sahara Estates, during which they attacked Babu with sticks and iron rods. His chest and ribs were fractured in the attack,” the inspector told DC, later on Thursday.

Police are on the lookout for two other accused. They include a criminal, allegedly involved in four murder cases.

Reports suggest that hospital staff did manage to catch another person, who had come to help the accused at the hospital, but failed to flee. He was handed over to the police.

A case has been registered under section 302 (murder) of IPC with the Vanasthalipuram police.
