“He is a dangerous person. There are also indications that he is a womanizer. It was a mysterious case as the motive could not be found initially. There was no theft or assault on the victim,” ADGP K Padmakumar told reporters at Kottayam recently as he spoke about the accused in the tragic murder of Sister Amala. He also told reporters that he was a psychopath.

The accused, Babu, was caught in Haridwar and was bought to Nedumbassery airport by flight from New Delhi on Sunday morning. Police said that he had confessed to the crime and he finds a pleasure in killing women.

Police have also confirmed that Babu was involved five similar cases, all of which were attacks on Christian nuns who were above 60.

In 2009 a case was registered against him for attacking his wife. Earlier, when he was a student, he had attacked his teachers.

As per TOI report Padmakumar said the accused was present on the convent premises when police were inspecting the spot of crime on September 17 and he had escaped from the scene by scaling a wall when the sniffer dog ran into the crowd.

Sr Amala (69) was found dead in Lisieux Carmelite Convent, Pala, on September 17.
