After facing a torrent of abuse from fans of Mammootty, actor Anna Rajan stated that the Malayalam star had reached out to her.

Taking to Facebook on Tuesday, Anna Rajan, who played Lichy in her debut film Angamaly Diaries, said, “Mammookka called me over phone. The confidence his words gave me will definitely help me wade through all challenges.”

It was Anna’s comment in a television interview that she would like to be Dulquer Salmaan’s heroine and Mammootty could act as his father that had outraged fans of both the actors, who unleashed a volley of abuse on her.

Unable to take the vicious trolling, Anna did a Facebook Live on Monday, where she was left in tears. Stating that her words had been misconstrued and that she would love to act with Mammootty, the Angamaly Diaries actor went on to say she was deeply sorry for her words.

Taking off from her Facebook Live, Anna’s post on Tuesday noted, “It was the sorrow this caused that led me to do an FB Live to clear things out. Today, after Mammookka spoke to me, I am immensely happy. I was in fact scared to call him up myself. But when he called me and spoke to me at length, I doubt whether it was a dream.”

She also went on to say that she hoped to work with Mammootty in the future. “To be honest, after my first film Angamaly Diaries, I was offered a Mammookka film. But then the shooting of this film was delayed and that's when I committed for a Mohanalal film. I pray that soon, I will be given a chance to act in a film along with Mammookka. I thank his generous heart for calling up an actor who is only two films old," said Anna.

Anna’s second film was with Mohanlal in the Onam release Velipadinte Pusthakam.

Others in the film industry have also come out in support of the young actor. Rima Kallingal wrote on Facebook that she didn’t see the problem with Mammootty playing a father role, considering how talented and versatile an actor he is.
