Quite a lot of star kids have forayed into Mollywood in the recent past and have carved a niche for themselves with exemplary performances. While Dulquer Salmaan, son of Mammootty, made his debut about five years ago with Second Show, he now has a string of successes to prove that acting runs in his genes.

Very recently, Mohanlal’s son Pranav, also jumped onto the acting bandwagon and his new film went on the floors recently. Incidentally, Pranav was seen as a child artiste in a couple of Malayalam films and has also won the Kerala State Award for Best Child Actor.

The latest news from Mollywood is that Mukesh’s son Shravan will also be donning the greasepaint. He has been signed up to play the lead role in Rajesh Nair’s upcoming film Kalyanam. Incidentally, the film will be Varsha’s debut as well. Rajesh Nair has so far directed three films in his career - Annum Innum Ennum starring Jishnu Raghavan, Thilakan, Salim Kumar and Siddique; Escape from Uganda starring Rima Kallingal, Vijay Babu, Parthiban, Joju George; and Salt Mango Tree starring Biju Menon, Suhasini Maniratnam, Lakshmi Priya and Sudheer Karamana.

Kalyanam is touted to be a romantic comedy and the director was looking to cast fresh faces which eventually led him to Shravan and Varsha. He was quoted by the Times of India as saying, “I met Shravan in Dubai once, and was impressed. I was looking for a 'guy next-door' too. When I spoke to him about the story, he was interested.”

On picking up the heroine, he had said, “She has acted in a Tamil film but this will be her Mollywood entry. The story will revolve around a couple. Will they marry or not is the question.”
