The Malayalam super star Mohanlal will be taking a week-long break before going ahead with his most expected film Odiyan. The star will fly down to Bhutan where he will be vacationing along with his family for a week before heading to Varanasi to begin shooting for Odiyan.

Mohanlal has had a slew of hits to his credit including Oppam and Pulimurugan, and he is currently busy with Lal Jose’s Velipadinte Pusthakam and B Unni Krishnan’s Villain. Both these films have reached the final stages of shooting with Velipadinte Pusthakam slotted for release on September 1 and Villain scheduled to hit the theatres on December 18.

Having to shuttle between both the sets, the star has now decided to take a break before his next film commences.

For Odiyan, Mohanlal will be shedding 15 kilos as his character so demands, say sources. According to reports, Mohanlal will appear in different avatars in the film, as his character traverses through different age groups, from 35 to 65 years.

Mohanlal will be playing an Odividya expert in the movie and has done a lot of homework to get his character right. According to the stunt director Peter Hein, who revealed about the star’s role, “Pulimurugan was a man vs wild subject where Mohanlal sir played a hunter who used to hunt down tigers. But Odiyan is different. Here, he has to transform into various animals and that is quite a challenging task.”

Directed by VA Shrikumar Menon, Odiyan has Manju Warrier playing the female lead with Sathyaraj and Prakash Raj also playing significant roles. M Jayachandran will be composing the tunes for the fllm. The shooting of Odiyan will begin in Varanasi and the team intends to shoot in various locations including Palakkad, Udumalaipet, Pollachi and Hyderabad.
